Joseph Lagen Oyet is a Ugandan creative in a love relationship with Jesus. He is a writer, singer, songwriter, arranger and multi-instrumentalist serving as a Youth and Worship Leader in his local church.
Born to a Christian home, Lagen is a fraternal twin and second of four children. His twin, Joshua “Jayko” Olara Oyet is an audio engineer, producer and guitarist with whom he does collaborative work.
Lagen’s debut single, “Near Near Here” is a tribute to his life journey and origins. It is the first off an album soon to be released. Lagen’s music is mostly choral, nostalgic and intimate. He gathers a wealth of inspiration from several artistes and writers.
Lagen firmly believes he is a work in progress being used and perfected by Christ. It is his prayer that his art and literature stays true to that cause. His favourite quote is from 20th Century preacher Charles Spurgeon. “God’s will is a complete, from the ground up renovation of our fallen self-centredness.”
Lagen also loves scenic nature, good food and great conversation…and good food.
