Mwesigwa Benjamin, musically known as "Hearty", was born in rukungiri district in western Uganda. He is Samia by tribe originating from Busia district in Eastern Uganda. He holds a Bachelor's degree in mass communication from Kampala International University??.

He started singing in church and finally discovers himself as a gospel artist.
